Nature of assistance

Technology Transfer, Incubation, Testing and Service Facilities

Objective

The Scheme envisages extension of the fruits of the research at the laboratory level for application at the field level and extension of testing and service facility.

  • Design and Development of innovative and modern machinery to achieve higher productivity, cost effectiveness and improvement in quality.
  • Product Diversification by blending coir with other natural fibres and development of new end-use application
  • Development of appropriate technologies for the promotion of eco friendly production processes and to study the extent of reduction of carbon emission due to usage of coir products
  • Establishment of technology incubation centers for carrying out extension work, Technology Transfer to entrepreneurs and the trade, conducting field demonstrations, technical testing services etc. 

Scheme applicable for

  • The Trade/ Manufactures/ Entrepreneurs/Coir Workers can approach Research Centre for availing assistance in Technology Transfer, Incubation, Testing and Service Facilities. Universities, Research organizations, Government institutions, etc. can submit collaborative research project proposals to the Research Centres.

Detailed Information

  • Any individual can avail of the technologies available with Coir Board by paying a nominal fee including training /incubation /handholding support/assistance for setting up new units from R & D Institutes of the Board.

Who can apply

The Research and Development activities of the Board are carried out through the twin research institutes: the Central Coir Research Institute, Kalavoor and Central Institute of Coir Technology, Bangalore. These institutes are eligible for use of funds released under Science & Technology.
The research outcomes are beneficial to the coir industry and trade in India and abroad.
